Melbourne Art Fair Is Back and We’re Excited. Are You?

By Bree Pagliuso|

If you’re looking for something to wander through, reflect on and fall in love with, this is the event for you. From 19–22 February 2026, Melbourne Art Fair returns to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing the city’s creative pulse indoors and transforming our venue into a four-day collision of art, design and ideas.

This year...

Melbourne Art Fair will showcase over 60 leading galleries, Indigenous-owned art centres and design studios, with more than 200 artists presenting new and recent work.

Expect bold installations. Sculpture that demands space. Experimental video. Works that make you stop, tilt your head, and pretend you totally understand it before reading the description.

So why does it work so well here?

MCEC has been a place for ideas for 30 years. A venue shaped by creativity, conversation and moments that invite you to look closer. Our spaces shift to meet moments like this. Art becomes conversation starters and our concourse becomes a pathway for discovery.

Art doesn’t whisper here.

At the centre of the Art Fair sits CONVERSATIONS, hosted inside The Bubble: an inflatable structure designed by OIGÅLL PROJECTS that feels part architecture, part art piece. No stage. No hierarchy. Just artists, curators, designers and thinkers unpacking the big questions shaping culture today.

Want to get closer?

Arts Project Australia returns with hands-on workshops led by artists, open to all ages and experience levels. There are guided tours if you want context, bookshops if you want to linger, and enough performances and pop-up moments to ensure your plan for the day quietly disappears.

New for 2026 is FUTUREOBJEKT.

A dedicated salon for collectible design, bringing together contemporary designers and crafted objects, alongside a new DESIGN CONVERSATIONS program exploring where art, architecture and making collide.

Come to wander.  Stay to discover something you didn’t expect.
