MCEC Is Proud to Officially Formalise Our Longstanding Relationship with Launch Housing

MCEC is proud to officially formalise our longstanding relationship with Launch Housing this National Homelessness Week, following a long-standing affiliation between the two organisations.

Taking place from August 1-7, National Homelessness Week aims to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the importance of social housing as a long-term solution.

The newly signed partnership will see MCEC throw their support behind Launch Housing, and the 25,000 Victorians who are sleeping rough or homeless each night in Melbourne.

MCEC is committed to the partnership through an employee volunteer program, workplace giving, At-Risk Youth Employment Program, participation in various fundraising events including the ‘Roughin’ It Challenge’, a ‘Lived Experience Advisory Program’ inclusive of guest speakers who have experienced homelessness and significant donations of MCEC resources.

MCEC Chief Executive Peter King said while MCEC has long been a supporter of Launch Housing, this marks the beginning of a formal partnership and an ongoing commitment to their vital work.

“By signing a three-year partnership agreement, we are ensuring we can continue to support Launch to realise their ambition of achieving zero homelessness in Melbourne.”

“As a significant part of Melbourne’s culture and economy, it is important that MCEC acknowledge the part we have to play in the wellbeing of the people in our community.”

Chief Executive Launch Housing, Bevan Warner said he is proud to be partnering with another organisation that is proudly passionate about Melbourne and its people.

“We’re partnering to change perceptions of homelessness, to unlock employment pathways for youth, and to inspire action that creates a safe, proud and liveable city for everyone.”

“MCEC show great leadership to strengthen our community and engage Melburnians in a future that is possible.”

“They’re unconventional and dynamic and we’re thrilled to be in partnership for greater impact together, and for our city, in the years to come.”

Launch Housing is an independent community organisation passionately committed to ending homelessness in Melbourne.

By combining direct action with advocacy, research and innovation, they’re driving meaningful and widespread change and creating achievable solutions to end Melbourne’s homelessness crisis.

They provide life-changing housing, support, education and employment services to thousands of vulnerable Victorians experiencing the trauma of homelessness.
