Jurassic World opens at MCEC
An adventure 6 million LEGO® bricks in the making, premiering at Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught will unveil an epic, world-first exhibition at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) this April that transforms Jurassic World – the blockbuster franchise from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment – into an immersive must-do adventure that will be the largest LEGO® experience in Australian history.
Over 50 large-scale dinosaurs, props, scenes and activities made from over 6 million LEGO® bricks will leave explorers in awe as they embark on a thrilling journey through stories and characters from the Jurassic World franchise, from discovering Isla Nublar, to the science labs of the Park, petting zoo and even posing with dinosaurs both friendly and menacing – all from the safety of the MCEC, which will operate with a commitment to a COVID safe environment.
Jurassic World by Brickman®, which is on sale to the general public from 10am, Thursday 11 March 2021, is brought to Melbourne thanks to TEG Live and Brickman®, in partnership with MCEC, and led by LEGO® Certified Professional Ryan McNaught.
Ryan is the only LEGO® Certified Professional in the Southern Hemisphere and is the star judge of the hit TV show LEGO® Masters Australia.
Visitors to Jurassic World by Brickman® begin by walking through the iconic 4-metre-tall Jurassic World gates to experience the island itself, then the inner workings of the Jurassic World lab, where dinosaurs are genetically engineered. Explorers will then venture to the baby dinosaur enclosure, where a life size LEGO® brick Brachiosaurus awaits that weighs well over 2 tons!
Learn how to track dinosaurs across the island before encountering escaped Velociraptors Blue and Delta and, of course, an enormous T-rex – a favourite of many Jurassic World fans.
In the Jurassic World by Brickman® experience, LEGO® fanatics will have an opportunity to show off their own building skills. The hands on exhibition has a myriad of activities, from island building, LEGO® paleontology and discovery through mystery mosaics, hybrid dinosaur creation, learning to track a dinosaur by creating species footprints, and even building escape vehicles to get away from a T.rex. With 2.5 million bricks to play with, creativity will not be in short supply!
As a native Victorian, Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught is thrilled to be hosting the world premiere at MCEC, before taking the exhibition around the country and the world.
“This experience brings two of the most iconic and well recognised brands together – LEGO® and Jurassic World.
It will be an epic adventure that I’m excited to share with Victorians, just in time for the school holidays and before we tour the rest of the country,” said McNaught.
“The team and I have worked on this for the last two years, with these being some of the most complex and challenging models we have ever made. They’ve demanded new techniques, thousands of hours building and experimenting to create designs that we’re incredibly proud of and are a true representation of the Jurassic World franchise,” continued McNaught.
“Jurassic World and LEGO fans of all ages are going to be in awe at the wonder and thrills that this experience provides, from hands-on building adventures to massive builds of some of your favorite dinosaurs,” said Jo Pascoe, Universal Brand Development Vice President of Consumer Products for Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
Geoff Jones, Chief Executive Officer of TEG, shared in the excitement for the global launch of this larger-than-life LEGO® experience.
“We’ve been lucky enough to work alongside Ryan and his team of experts to stage previous exhibitions, and Jurassic World is set to be one of the most ambitious. Showcasing some of the world’s largest LEGO® creations, the scale and skill of this experience will impress anyone who steps in the door,” said Jones.
Jurassic World by Brickman® will run from 1 April to 31 May 2021 at MCEC. Tickets on sale on Thursday 11 March at 10.00am (AEDT) through Ticketek. The safety of patrons and staff is top priority, and Jurassic World by Brickman® will operate with a commitment to a COVID safe environment including capped visitor numbers, physical distancing measures and sanitiser stations onsite.
Peter King, Chief Executive of Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, said MCEC is thrilled to be partnering with TEG Live and Brickman to bring such an exciting exhibition to Melbourne.
“Jurassic World by Brickman® helps the MCEC do what we do so well - attracting visitors and especially families to Melbourne. Another example of the essence of our role in the community.”
“To have the opportunity to host the global launch of such an innovative new experience is a privilege, and with our wonderful facilities I look forward to seeing the community enjoying everything the space has to offer,” said King.
