Join the Action! Melbourne International Games Week is Coming
By Bree Pagliuso|
This October, the city switches to player mode, and the epicentre of it all is Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). From developers levelling up their skills, to red-carpet moments honouring Australia’s best to three huge days of pure gaming culture—Games Week at MCEC is where the community comes together to play, celebrate, and dream big.
Across Melbourne, International Games Week runs 4–12 October 2025, drawing gamers, creators, educators, and industry leaders from around the world. And at MCEC, we’re hosting the biggest moments.
Here are the events you don’t want to miss.
Games Connect Asia Pacific
6–8 October
Games Week kicks off with GCAP, Australia’s leading conference for game developers. For three days, the industry gets down to business; talks, workshops, and networking designed to help studios grow and creatives level up.
If you’re building a career in games, GCAP is your chance to learn from leaders, pick up new skills, and connect with the people shaping the future of play.
The Australian Game Developer Awards
8 October
Next comes the big celebration. The AGDAs is gaming’s red-carpet night, shining a spotlight on the studios, indie creators, and trailblazers who keep Australia’s games scene thriving.
It’s a mix of cocktail attire, proud cheers, and the thrill of seeing local talent take centre stage. Even if you’re not in the industry, it’s a rare chance to see creativity recognised in style.
PAX Australia
10–12 October
Then it’s time for the headline act. PAX Aus transforms MCEC into a three-day festival of gaming culture—cosplay on every corner, a packed exhibition floor, live panels, tournaments, and the chance to try out the latest releases before anyone else.
It’s where fans, creators, and communities collide in one of the most exciting weekends on Melbourne’s calendar. Whether you’re there to play, watch, or just soak it all in, PAX is the ultimate celebration of what gaming’s all about.
Don’t Wait, Press Start!
Together, GCAP, the AGDAs, and PAX make up the arc of Games Week at MCEC. First comes the learning, then the celebrating, then the full-blown festival of play.
It’s a chance to dive into gaming culture, connect with community, and experience the energy that makes Melbourne a global games capital.
So grab a badge, dust off your cocktail gear, or just bring your curiosity—because Games Week at MCEC is ready for you.
