Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre

We are delighted to announce that Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre will open in 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront precinct. The new venue is part of the Geelong/Djilang City Deal - a partnership between the Australian and Victorian Governments with the City of Greater Geelong/Djilang.

Victoria's amazing new venue

As the Government operator of convention and exhibition services in the state of Victoria, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust (MCET) is now managing Nyaal Banyul as well as MCEC.

MCET is working closely with the community, businesses and key stakeholders in Geelong/Djilang and the wider Bellarine region to secure as many local jobs, produce and supply chains as possible in the running of the centre.

Nyaal Banyul will be a major driver of jobs and economic growth for the City of Greater Geelong/Djilang and surrounding areas, supporting 600 jobs during construction and an additional 270 ongoing jobs through operation. Construction of Nyaal Banyul will begin in 2023.

Every event at Nyaal Banyul will benefit a local ecosystem including hoteliers, event organisers, food providores, chefs, casual wait staff, cleaners, technicians, logistics and transport operators. We can’t wait to welcome you to Nyaal Banyul soon.

As operators of the future Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, we Acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Djilang (Geelong), the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay respects to their Elders past and present, and thank them for gifting the centre its name, returning language to Country. Meaning ‘open your eyes to the hills’, once open, Nyaal Banyul will encourage visitors to the centre to look deeply and appreciate the landscapes and history of Wadawurrung Country.
