Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre pitches in for a worthy cause
28 May 2008
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) will once again join with more than 30 other top Victorian restaurants and wineries to raise cash for the Australian Childhood Foundation to help reduce child abuse, family violence and neglect in the community.
An annual event at the Sofitel Melbourne, now in its eighth year, Eat Street is regarded as one of Melbourne’s ‘best nights out’ where leading designers, chefs, celebrities, restaurateurs and beverage suppliers get together to create a night full of fine food, wine, music, auction events and fabulous entertainment for over 700 guests.
MCEC’s chief executive Leigh Harry says, ‘The MCEC has been involved with Eat Street since its inception eight years ago. This is an important annual event in Melbourne’s calendar and one that the MCEC is extremely proud to be a part of.’
On the night a team of eight MCEC chefs will be creating some of their signature dishes including jumbo oysters with lemongrass and Thai basil dressing, marinated quail with Lebanese cous cous, honey and coriander jus, and kalamansi and citrus trifle.
The event takes place at the Sofitel Melbourne on Tuesday 3 June 2008 from 6pm with all proceeds being donated to the Australian Childhood Foundation.
