West Gate Upgrade

6 May 2008

Dear Colleague

Please be advised of significant imminent road changes which may affect travel time to and from the city on the Westgate Freeway and also access to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

From the evening of Sunday 18 May, extensive road changes to upgrade the Westgate Freeway may create delays for motorists with the closure of the Montague Street on-ramp while it is being dismantled and rebuilt.

The project involves building additional lanes from the Bolte Bridge (across Montague Street), to carry traffic to the Burnley Tunnel and directly on to Kings Way.

The new road works will begin at Todd Road and it is expected that the Montague Street on-ramp will be closed for the next 18 months while the new lanes are built. No other freeway access ramps to and from Montague Street will be affected at this time.

Road works will also be underway in Normanby Road, Southbank, for the next six to eight weeks.

Please take extra care when travelling along these thoroughfares while they are under construction for your own safety and for the safety of workers and other motorists.

Further information and alternate access routes are shown at the Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade website at www.mcwupgrade.com.au or by calling 1300 881 137.

As more details are made available we will update you via our website at http://www.mcec.com.au/Utility/MCEC-Information/West-Gate-Upgrade.html

Yours sincerely
